What
types of tests are used to determine the chances of
giving birth prematurely?
There are basically four types of tests to assess the
likelihood of going into labor early:
• Checking the cervical length (women with shorter
than average cervixes are at increased risk of early
labor
• Premature rupture of membranes
• Screening for bacterial vaginosis and its treatment
with antibiotics (women with BV are at increased risk
of experiencing preterm labor)
• Administering the fFN test or Salivary estriol
test
